Junior/Senior Relay 2007

Report

It was a rather wet and windy day at 9:30 am as I headed off to put out the markers.

Luckily at least the rain stopped for the race. The team organising took a little time with the usual last minute arrivals, especially as Gordon decided to park his car astride a log and needed a lift off.

The teams eventually headed off up the hill into the mud where Owen decided to leave his shoes behind. Michael (being far too much of a Dad) headed back to extracate the trainers and re-attach them to the feet while Alice, Kirsty and I ranted that he was in our team and he should leave it to Gordon to sort out.

Jonathan Hogg decided to follow his sister's example from last year and deposit his breakfast on the hill. Not realising that this was quite normal! Bob took Jonathan back down the hill before heading on. (Even giving Jonathan a penalty time, their team time was second over all).

The fastest team was The James Family, on Mick's 40th Birthday too.

The fastest Junior was Angus in 19:13, even after being told to go the wrong way by Pete Baxter.

After their race the Juniors hid in the Bivvy Bag eating and drinking until all the adults had got round. Then we headed down to the calm of the cars for the prize giving.

It was wild in the wind, escpecially for the long leg runners as they battled over the summit of Turnhouse. And the biscuit van checkpoint looks like it is nearing the end of its life on the hill!.
