Junior/Senior Relay 2006

Poem by Rachael Paul

The race is off, and over the stile,
Up the hill, running all the while.
The path gets steeper, and legs get tired,
Walking for a minute, until we get fired.
Kids wondering , if they’ll win or if they’ll fail,
Until they hear a bark, and see a dog chasing his tail.
Down everyone runs faster than gale force,
Guess who won.... ....storm of course

Alice Hogg reports
It was my first race with Carnethy Juniors and when I was standing freezing in the car park I didn't know what to expect. When we got started and up onto the hill the sun came out and I really enjoyed the race. It had a really hard and steep start which I got pulled up, an eventful middle and a fun downhill finish. It was especially good as I ended up in the winning team and won a cool teddy. Now I can't wait to do another one!
Kirsty Cameron reports

on Sunday the 8th January Willie held a race at Flotterstone. We got into teams and in my team was Win Colin ans Ellie. There was 10 teams altogether (far more than previous years) My team called "Don't beat them join them"came 3rd overall and out of the juniors Ellie and I came 5th. It was a beautiful day but very cold and frosty. At the end Willie gave out prizes to the Children who were in the first 3 teams. I got a lovely teddy bear. Then he gave out medals to the first 10 juniors. It was a great day thanks to Willie for organising it and thanks to the other seniors that came out to run.

Scott Cameron Reports
On Sunday 8yh January about 15 children and 20 adults went to Flotterstone for the Junior/Senior Relay. Despite the low temperatures the weather was perfect. Organised by Willie Gibson, he put us into teams of around three to four people. He then explained the courses, junior/short senior/long senior, to those that hadn't done it before.
The winnind team was Alice's Restaurant, Alice Hogg/ Gordon Cameron / Ben Bate, with a total time of 78:53. My team together came 4th - 84:47 but on my own I won the junior part with a time of 19:29
I really enjoyed the relay and I look forward to it next year.
thanks Willie
