The tide was unusually low as we assembled for the third race of the
series, the flat out-and-back race on Ravensheugh Beach. There was a
little rain in the air, but it was warm as many of the runners went the
wrong
way from the car park and missed the start. Michael Wilkinson managed
to walk almost to the beach then decide to go back to his car and then
go
the wrong way on his return to the beach.
The race started at 7:10 and everyone set off after being given detailed
instructions "Turn
at the bay after Tantalon Castle", but the night was so nice that most
ran all the way to North Berwick berfore coming back.
Colin Pritchard won the race from Win Rampen and Alan Hogg.
Michael had to give up at Tantalon and Kate Jenkins very kindly offered to
do the ambulance service and go and pick him up.
All the supporters and kids had a great time on the beach between showers and
the BBQ was excellent until at about 9:45 the heavens opened and everyone ran
for the cars.
Thanks to Keith for his excellent wood collecting and BBQ equipment hiding,
and thanks to the Non-Running partners for the skilful time keeping.
