A cold but sunny evening greeted the small turnout of
15 runners, assembled for the first (rearranged) handicap race of the
season. The race took a long loop on the paths around Corstrophine hill,
followed by a short loop over the top; 6.4k with 205m of climb, according
to Bill. All but one managed to follow the route, using Hilary's excellent
coloured route map and well marked flour-trail. The run times were quicker
than Hilary's estimates, so the finish order reflected the handicap starting
order, with little overtaking on-route. Richard was pursued closely by
Margaret who finished first, but Richard won when Margaret's result was
corrected for her early start. Both Andy and Adam were pleased with their
handicaps (for a change), but Adam managed to run the fastest time by
quite a margin. As the running was quickly over, we retired to the Rainbow
for fast food and to warm up.
