Twenty three
runners and several new faces turned out to compete in the 4th run of
the series, over the trackless and tussocky moorland around Spittal Hill and
The Mount at the less familiar western end of the Pentland Hills. The cool
weather with occasional sun and a light breeze provided excellent running
conditions and several very good times were run, notably by Jane Robertson who
turned up 15 mins late and still beat almost half of the field. In fact, if
she’d been on time she would have won! That honour went to new member Cliff
Barraclough, while Stewart Whitlie comfortably set the fastest time. There were
several close finishes. A large number of us enjoyed the hospitality of the
Alan Ramsay Inn afterwards.
